Build and Build 2

What is the difference between Build and Build 2?

LUXA Build has a slightly thinner viscosity with faster self-leveling time and a softer color than LUXA Build 2. Our standard LUXA Build has just the perfect amount of flow without needing to race against the clock. It works perfectly for nail overlays.
Luxa Build 2 has the same features as our standard Luxa Build with even more playtime. Perfect for longer nails and extra added strength!

Check out this Reel from our Instagram to see the difference for yourself!

Which is right for me, Build in a Jar or Build in a Bottle?  This is up to personal preference! While some techs prefer Build in a Bottle, others appreciate the control they feel using their preferred brush to apply Build in a Jar.

Are you discontinuing Build in a Bottle? There have been discussions about keeping Build in a Bottle on a little longer! If you love BIAB, be sure to let us know via our Contact Form.

Are Build products soak-off?LUXA Build is not soak-off. You can file it down carefully, or to make removal easier, you can apply LUXA Base before Build. That way, you can file off about 80% of the Build and soak off the remaining!

How do I prevent lifting when using Build?

Free edge lifting is an annoyance, but it can happen with any enhancement service. Here are a few tips to help with any lifting issues:
- Be sure the natural nail is etched and prepped thoroughly.
- Double check your lamp and curing times. An old or faulty lamp can cause service breakdown.
- Show client at home care of enhancements along with daily cuticle oil use on nail and free edge to keep the nails flexible and help prevent any free edge separation.

How do I prevent bubbles from forming in the Build jar or bottle? Lots of bubbles won’t typically form unless the product was stirred rapidly. Stirring more gently should ensure that this issue doesn't occur! If you still have bubbles in your product, allow the product to settle or tap the jar on a stable surface to help the bubbles rise to the top.

Are Build products best for strengthening, or for creating extensions?

LUXA Build products can be used both as an overlay, for adding strength to thinner natural nails, and to build extensions! You can find out more information about how to use Build in the "LUXA Build Directions" section on the product pages (located just below the product images).
Either tips or forms can be used to create extensions with Build.
Be sure to check out the video below, from our founder Leah, all about how to build extensions using Build products and nail tips!

How can I prevent heat spikes during curing?Because every person's pain tolerance is different and heat spikes may vary greatly based on the the natural health and thickness of the nail, we believe that communicating with the client about heat spikes and why they happen is the best protocol! Some clients do not experience a heat spike at all while curing Build.

We recommend having client put their hand in – the moment they feel any warmth, which often occurs between 5 and 15 seconds into curing, have them pull their hand out of the lamp to let it rest and to stop the curing process for around 10 seconds or until the warmth dissipates. Put hand back in and continue the process as needed until you have cured the nail for the full 60 second cure time!

Matrix

If you are new to using Matrix, check out the comprehensive intro video on our YouTube channel here!

Can I buy Matrix in Bright White? At this time, we do not have plans in the works to restock Matrix in Bright White. However, we do take customer feedback seriously when making these decisions!

Can I use Matrix to fill an acrylic set? What about using Matrix to fill a gel or Build set? Yes, to all of the above! It is always best to apply Matrix onto a fresh set of nails. However, Matrix can be applied over your client's existing set as long as the foundation is solid. This means that there should be no pocket lifting or separation!

Can I use Matrix with dual forms? We have heard of our customers doing so with success, however we do not have any tutorials on this!

Is Matrix in Natural Clear a good option for encapsulation?

You can certainly use Matrix for encapsulation, however no shades of Matrix are crystal clear. It can be used to encapsulate if applied in thin layers. The thicker the layer of Natural Clear that is applied, the cloudier the finish will be.
Other great options for encapsulation are our Build 2 products in Clear! See here for encapsulation instructions.

How do I remove Matrix? File off about 80% of the product, and the remaining 20% can be soaked off!

 Help! My Matrix is lifting!

Free edge lifting is an annoyance, but it can happen with any enhancement service. Here are a few tips to help with any lifting issues:
- Be sure the natural nail is prepped thoroughly.
- Double check your lamp and curing times. An old or faulty lamp can cause service breakdown.
- Show client at home care of enhancements along with daily cuticle oil use on nail and free edge to keep the nails flexible to help prevent any free edge separation.

 Why isn’t Matrix curing properly?

If Matrix is not curing properly, please check your lamp! If it is not strong enough or if it is older (1 year or more), you may require a longer cure time or a replacement lamp. We recommend that all LUXA products be cured using a lamp with an output of at least 395 nanometers.
If you are only having trouble with more opaque Matrix shades, you may also try applying in thinner layers and curing between!
The cure time for Matrix is 60 seconds with LED and 2 minutes in UV.

What alcohol percentage should I use with LUXA Matrix? For Matrix, we suggest using 90% alcohol or higher. Alcohol assists in breaking down Matrix, making it easier to work with. Please keep in mind that temperature will also play a key in its malleability!

Can I use Matrix with tips?Yes!
